As it turned out, I was stressed and I was sick which meant my two week holiday back in New Zealand was just recovering from the flu.
To a lot of you out there, that probably sounds like the worst way to have a holiday. I didn't feel like doing anything. I didn't really feel like socialising with anyone. I wanted to just be.
This, as it turned out was the best thing that could have happened.
Because I spent most of my time relaxing, not doing much, watching a lot of darts on TV, I arrived back in Japan feeling good and feeling like this is going to be my year.
By doing nothing on my two weeks I believe I did the best for my body and for my wellbeing. A friend of mine was supposed to accompany me on my trip, but she had to cancel at the last minute. I was disappointed because I was looking forward to showing her around but in the end I believe it was a blessing in disguise.
Just because it is a holiday, don't feel pressured that you have to do everything and run around and be very busy. For some people (I'm looking at you extroverts) that might be the way to go but for some people two weeks of nothing may quite well be the tonic that you need.
Anyway, back to the great feeling this morning. Because of my sickness, I haven't been able to exercise as much as I want to. In fact I haven't exercised at all.
This morning was my second workout of the year and because of my absence from the gym I couldn't go full out but when I finished and walked to the station, I was feeling great. It was one of those feelings in which I felt detached from the rat race around me. I wasn't moving particularly fast but I felt in my own world and that was because of the exercise this morning.
Long may it continue.
Lets make 2018 the best it can be. Move your body. Work hard. Play hard. Love hard. (You know what I mean.)
